BIOGRAPHY

Living in Brooklyn, NY, Matt is a musician, composer and educator who focuses on classical, jazz and popular music. He performs for many weddings, parties and other special events in the tri-state area, composes and arranges for orchestras throughout the country, and teaches beginner to advanced classical and jazz piano.

Matt Shelosky is an accomplished New York City pianist, arranger/composer and educator who earned his B.A. in music and journalism from Lehigh University in 2008 and his M.A. at New York University in Performing Arts Administration in 2013. While studying at NYU, Matt also coordinates the Steinhardt Music and Performing Arts Professions Web site at the Steinhardt School as a Web Marketing Assistant. He is the founder of a jazz quartet that plays at several Tri-State Area functions, restaurants and clubs. Before moving to New York, Matt was an adjunct in the music department at Lehigh University for two years where he conducted the jazz band.

 

Matt began playing piano at the age of five and the saxophone at the age of 10. His instructors include: Bill Warfield, Tim Harrison, Dave Riekenberg, Eugene Albulescu, Eric Doney, Jesse Green, Nelson Hill, John Schwartz, and Sendi Su.

 

Matt has performed jazz, popular and classical music for parties, weddings, open houses and other special events throughout the Tri-State Area since 2003.

 

Matt placed fourth in the Peter Nero Piano Competition in 2000. In 2005, He was named the Lehigh Music Department Most Outstanding Freshman as well as the Most Outstanding Jazz Freshman in his first year at Lehigh. From 2006-2008, He was named the Lehigh University Music Department Most Outstanding Student and was the recipient of the Overall Jazz Award.
